About Sillary Gaon

Sillery Gaon is a small village in the Kalimpong district of the state of West Bengal, India. Sillery Gaon is situated at an altitude of 6000 ft, a total of about 30 families reside in this village. The place offers a magnificent view of Mt. Kanchenjunga along with other surrounding ranges. The hills emerge in various colors owing to the change of weather and position of the sun. The name "Sillery" is derived from the name of a plant that grows in abundance in the region. This area also abounds in Cinchona Plantation which was introduced in this region by the British, as a source of Quinine used for the treatment of Malaria. Every house in this village has a flower garden in its front to enhance the decorative beauty. The morning strats with the chirping of beautiful and colorful birds.One can view the Sikkimese town and the Teesta River flowing through the heart of the hills. There isno market in Sillery Gaon. One can visit Pedong and its attractions by car.The place has a soothing and salubrious climate. It is worth visiting throughout the year.
